![]() We Love Cantilever Dining ChairsMonday, 31 January 2011 A cantilever dining chair is any chair which has no back legs for support – instead it has a metal frame which sits along the chair base and curves downwards (similar to an angular ‘C’ shape) to create the legs. It is very important that high grade metal work is used for a cantilever frame to support a seated person. The first cantilever chair base was designed by Mart Stam in 1926, and this style of chair base is as popular now as it was when it first debuted almost a century ago. A unique feature of a cantilever dining chair is the gentle bouncing sensation that you get when you are seated in one...almost as if you are sitting in a rocking chair. This is a feature that it unique to cantilever dining chairs and adds an extra level of comfort. Some great examples of cantilever dining chairs include:
The Nemo Cantilever chair – this cantilever dining chair has a plastic seat and a chrome cantilever frame. An ultra modern design.
The Madison Cantilever Dining Chair – The mix of wood and chrome add a modern, but classic feel to this dining chair.
Milano Cantilever Dining Chair – This modern dining chair has a distint Bauhaus influence with it’s open back rest. Leather and chrome.
Sara Cantilever Dining Chair – The Sara dining chair has a unique curved back rest and a tubular cantilever frame.
